Before you book

The questions hosts tend to ask first.

A hundred-year-old train in an Alpine winter invites fair questions. These are the answers we would give you over the phone.

Warm, whatever the weather

Every wagon is fully heated and insulated, with cloakroom space, indoor washrooms and a sheltered, carpeted entrance.

Catering you can taste first

Menus are prepared by our Davos kitchen partners, from canapés to multi-course dinners. Dietary requirements, wine pairings and a tasting ahead of the week can all be arranged.

Arrival by car or on foot

Five minutes on foot from Davos Platz, and guests arriving by car can be dropped off directly in front of the train. The train remains stationary throughout the week and is reached by steps.

Permits and cover in writing

The venue operates with the required Swiss event, food and beverage permits and liability cover, with fire and evacuation procedures in place and trained staff on site. Documentation is shared with your booking agreement on request.

Terms in writing, before you commit

You receive a written proposal with fixed hourly rates, a clear cancellation and postponement schedule and a staged deposit.

One team, one contact

A dedicated event manager handles run-of-show, AV, staffing, branding, guest lists and suppliers — and remains your single point of contact from proposal through to the night itself.

Location

Davos Platz. Five minutes on foot.

The train is stationed beside the tracks in Davos, within easy walking distance of Davos Platz station and the heart of the week's activity.

Open in Maps

The train stands on the same track throughout the week — a fixed, welcoming address you return to each day. Guests arriving by car can be dropped off directly in front of the train, and during your event it remains stationary within the station, so there is nothing to find and nowhere to be but aboard.

Why it matters

A booking here is, in effect, a sponsorship.

Revenue from the Exploration Train is the principal funding source of the nonprofit Exploration Film Festival, held each November in Davos and free for the local community. Hosts are credited with a standard official sponsorship of the 2026 and 2027 editions at no additional cost.

Final sponsorship benefits are confirmed in the booking agreement.

Questions

Practical answers.

Pricing is per wagon, per hour, with a two-hour minimum and food and beverage charged separately. Rates depend on the wagon, the day and the production required, so every enquiry receives a written, itemised proposal rather than a fixed list price.
